Charts Up is a place to move names up a list. These are the rules of it, in the plainest words we could find.

A chart is five names in an order. Signing in gives you bumps, and a bump adds one to a name's count. The counts are the order, and nothing else changes it.

Anyone signed in can make a chart. Each one is checked by hand before it goes up: we may correct its words or its starting order, add the other language, or turn it down. Once it is up, it shows your name and profile picture as the person who made it, and it stays up for as long as we keep it — other people's bumps are on it.

Bumps have no monetary value. They cannot be bought, sold, transferred or exchanged for anything.

Charts are entertainment. They are not surveys, not predictions, and not a measurement of public opinion or of quality.

Whoever made a chart sets its starting order, and we check it before it goes up. You set everything after that.

Nothing here endorses a candidate, a party or a product, and appearing on a chart is not an endorsement by us or by the person named.

Bumps and likes are visible to everyone.

There is no password here, so getting back into an account depends on the social network behind it. We can't recover one for you.

Don't use this to harass a person, to impersonate one, or to break the law where you are. Don't automate bumps.

We can take a chart down, correct the words on one, suspend an account, and undo invite rewards that look farmed. We also decide which of the charts people make go up. It is done by hand, and we don't have to explain a particular decision — though we'll try.

Named on a chart and would rather not be? Write to us and we'll take it down.

This is a small site run by one person. It may be down, it may lose a change, and it may stop existing. Use it in that spirit.

If these rules change, the new ones are on this page. There is no mailing list to hear it through.
